I am actualy a little afriad to watch this...
Hey this is first journal entry of june hehe!
So I had a lotta fun yesterday. I went on to Kuroi's chat and some people were playing Quake and I was like "huh whats that- wait i remember seeing a button on onio's site for something called quake" so went there and clkicked the button and discovered this quake game (spoiler: I think im addicted).
I then proceeded to play on the server with these two other people (Boredom Not Found and Rarely0rare) on Quake while also chatting in Kuroi's chatbox for bascially an hour before having to leave to go play with my cats. This was very fun and Ima do it again hehe!
Also i finally posted on melonland forum after a while yesterday, specifically about indie social media and what the consensus of it was
The general concensus I got was that like I said, its cool in THEORY but the issue is that most sites are trying to copy mainstream stuff like twitter but without the addicting features so they dont stick, and also that a lot of people make accounts just to lurk and not interact with the community.
Some people also were saying they might delete their spacehey accounts since tey dont use them and I am now thinking of doing the same possibly
AlSO a while ago I posted this thread about WeVidi and I thought it wasnt getting any responses but then I checked back yesterday and it actually did its just for some reason I didnt get notified. This also happened with my other posts, which makes me wonder if theres a way to configure it so posts made by me by default notify me when they get replies. idk tho

Also today neocities went down (and technically is still currently down) but on melonland danQ told people how to access it using this local host thingy and I did it and thats how Im writing this post rn. So thats cool. Im thinking of trying to mount my site on my computer tho in case this happens again.

Yall I need to say this: STOP DUMPING ON GLITCH
For context, Glitch Productions recent released the Gamoverse Pilot on youtube and has gotten extreme backlash from it (mostly from the female character's designs but other things too) and to be fair, I think its definetly not their best pilot, BUT WE ARENT HERE TO TALK ABOUT THAT
Im here to talk about these videos I keep seeing! Videos with titles like "Glicth will never chnage" or "Glitch isnt indie anymore" or "Glitch has fallen into greed" and It just makes me so fucking mad! Like dude, they arent "not indie" and on the contrary we should be happy for them achieving the success they have! people are mad about this TADC Finale in theaters but why? why is that a problem like shouldnt we be happy theyve expanded their reach to theaters? Like it just makes me mad that the second they achieve any success people start thinking theyre a corporate studio like disney. Like thats not how it is! the term "indie animation" has vairations guys! like it could range from anything between a 13 year old making stop motion to Glitch Productions. Like its not a monolith. Just because Glitch has had success doesnt make them not indie anymore.
Like just- to anyone who is saying this kinda stuff, just think about it a bit more. I understand your point of view and opinion and it is valid, but please consider what your saying and how it could hurt the indie animation community. Like, its like saying that just cuz Melonland is bigger than a single site its a corporate site. Thats just not how it is and it can actually be hurtful to the community and creators involved.
But again to disclaim, this is my opinion, and im not saying its objectivly correct.
Can I just say how much I hate silverfish
like seriously, people are afraid of spiders, but SILVERFISH- OMFG THEY ARE TERRIFYING. They have- UGHHH so many LEGS AND they move around so weirdly- EUGHHHHHHH
I am legit terrified of them. I know its an even more irrational fear than spiders but i dont care they are HORRIFYING
I hate when adults act so confused as to why Gen Z is unmotivated to do anything. Like they’re like “in my day everyone wanted to have kids and now nobody does” or “why does nobody wanna go to college anymore?” Or like “why does everyone hate school so much” when there is a 100% valid reason- in fact multiple.
like do they think kids are acting like this for no reason? because there is a reason, it’s that the world of today is unlivable. Like why aren’t kids interested in having children? Cuz one hospital visit could cause you to go broke. Kids are too expensive and healthcare won’t let things like abortiond happen. our world's priorities are little pieces of paper instead of the literal lives of human beings. Why are t kids going to college? Cuz college is too expensive and isn’t worth the money and time when most jobs are being taken by AI anyways. Why don’t they like school? Cuz they bimbard kids with homework and do things that are scientifically proven to damage the mental health of teens. like having to get up at 6 in the morning just to be on time and giving out shitloads of homework for no reason other than to keep you busy. Like people act like Gen Z is acting like this for no reason but there IS a reason. its because the world of today is impossible to live in with added needs like children or going to college.

You know, I always get so sad when i find an indie/revival social media site like Spacehey but then find out its dead. like It happens a lot, like I'll be exploring some cool indie site, find a link to a cool looking retro social type site, and then when i get there i find out its defunt. Flirb.net is an example. Like I was just browsing this site (https://ios.nekoweb.org/apps/flirb/index.html) and found it but then discovered its dead. i feel this way about sites being abandoned in general, like there are some indieweb creators ive found the sites of that are just absolutly dead; havent been updated since 2024 or something, and I get it, but also it makes me sad that some sites are just abandoned and never updated again with no explaination. I get it tho; hosting a social platform and/or managing a site while still having stuff irl is hard.
So I had my girlfriend over the other day and idk, im worried. idk how to help her well cuz Im not great with emotional stuff and I feel useless cuz theirs nothing I can really do but comfort her in her situation. But idk, im trying. i want to make her happy and not sad, and im just trying

So idk 100% about this but I feel like this person on tumblr is selling ai coded (or vibe coded as they say) html templates.
Now I dont know this 100%, but the vibe i get is very ai. Like, a lot of the layouts have a black and green/color color scheme and look kinda matrixy, but they lack any unique non defapt fonts, and they all have this like, trying to be "retroweb" vibe even tho there's no specific retroweb vibe. They also have names like "cyber dreamspace" or "bl00dnet.exe"
Im not really trying to call this person out, im more making an observation. I dont tend to have a huge issue with websites being coded with minimal AI, but when they are like 100% ai coded AND are being sold for money and not just for free it sorta rubs me the wrong way. if ur reading this dont go after this person, i dont have definitive proof of this, its just an observation.
