OK so im noticing a fascinating phenomenon that youtube is doing rn
So first, i find out theyre adding (back) instant messages. Ok. Thats not TOO weird. I mean most platforms these days have something similar and maybe they think itll get more people to use the site/app
but then I see, they have empahsized the dislike button on the youtube app
So, ya, youtube is regressing
Youtube has gone through the [number] stages of social media
Youtube started out as a unique places because it was for long form video sharing. i had always been like that- it was THE PLACE to share that. Thats why people used it and it killed off smaller platforms. But then they added youtube shorts, cuz they wanted to compete with Tiktok. But in doin that, they have actually driven people away in a way. People came to youtube to watch longform content, but adding youtube shorts makes it so that it acts more as an alterative to tiktok.
And now, they are going back. They are panicking, cuz they have realized that youtube shorts have detured more people than attarcted, so they are adding the feature every other platform- including Tiktok- has: Instant Messaging
Now, will I be using this feature? No. I hardly even use youtube anymore to be honest, mostly due to the algorithm and my boredom with it. But I actually kinda feel like adding the IM BACK is kinda cool. While it will inevitably cause issues, its an old feature that they have revived.
But that all being said, Im gonna be trying to get on WeVidi i think. I like it it seems like a chill place with good moderation so ya.
